Busan Nam-gu to Host ‘Moonlight Outdoor Library Festival’ at Peace Park

Busan Nam-gu is set to host its second "Moonlight Outdoor Library Festival" at Peace Park, a natural oasis nestled within the Dosim. The festival, themed "A Library Where Moonlight Lingers, A Space Full of Stories," promises to offer citizens a unique evening experience through books and diverse cultural programs. Located adjacent to the historically significant UN Memorial Cemetery, Peace Park provides a beautiful setting for enjoying literature and art simultaneously.

An Outdoor Festival Blending Books and Culture

Now in its second year, the Busan Nam-gu Moonlight Outdoor Library Festival features a diverse program designed to bring books and culture closer to the public. On the opening day, the 11th, a fusion Korean traditional music performance will take place, followed by a screening of the film 'Again' at the 'Moonlight Cinema' to illuminate the festival night. The venue will also include a fairytale zone and a stage zone, allowing visitors to experience the festival in various ways.

Organized by Busan Nam-gu Office, this festival transcends the traditional confines of a library, offering a novel experience of engaging with books and culture outdoors. The inaugural festival in 2025 operated daily from 5 PM to 9 PM, with its opening ceremony held at 7 PM on the first day. The Charm of Peace Park, the Festival Venue

Peace Park, the venue for the festival, is located in the area of 707 Daeyeon-dong, Nam-gu, Busan Metropolitan City, and is adjacent to the historically significant UN Memorial Cemetery. The park was established in 2005 to commemorate the APEC Summit and boasts various facilities, including a ground fountain, pergolas, jogging courses, an ecological pond, lawns, and walking trails. With over 30,000 trees and more than 30,000 flowering plants, it offers visitors a pleasant and beautiful natural environment.

Peace Park operates year-round with no admission fee. Public transportation access is excellent. Visitors can alight at Gyeongseongdae·Pukyongdae Station (Exit 5) on Busan Metro Line 2, then transfer to a local bus (such as routes 10, 20, 22, 24, 27, 39, 131, 155). The Daeyeon Xi Apartment bus stop is just a one-minute walk from the park.

As an outdoor event, the Moonlight Outdoor Library Festival has flexible operational plans to cope with weather conditions. During the first festival, in the event of adverse weather like rain making outdoor activities difficult, there were plans to hold indoor events at the Nam-gu Office without cancellation.
