Busan Buk-gu Hosts the 6th Art Festival, Showcasing Local Creative Passion

Busan Buk-gu has announced that the 2026 6th Busan Buk-gu Art Festival (BBAF) will take place from September 3rd to 11th at the Buk-gu Culture & Arts Center. The festival, which offers free admission, will feature over 70 diverse works by local artists and veteran creators.

A Hub for Local Art: The 6th Busan Buk-gu Art Festival

The Busan Buk-gu (District Head: Jung Myung-hee) and the Busan Buk-gu Art Association (President: Ahn Tae-jon) are co-hosting the 2026 6th Busan Buk-gu Art Festival (BBAF) from September 3rd to 11th at the Buk-gu Culture & Arts Center.

Since its inception in 2021, this event has served as a platform to exhibit works infused with the artistic spirit of local creators and veteran artists, marking its sixth year.

Exhibition of 70 Diverse Works with Free Admission Ganeung

The festival will feature approximately 70 works spanning various genres, including Korean painting, Western-style painting, watercolor, calligraphy, and sculpture. The exhibition is open to the public daily from 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM, with free admission for all visitors.

Connecting with the Community and Expanding Cultural Access

Ahn Tae-jon, President of the Buk-gu Art Association, stated, "I hope these heartfelt works by our local artists provide warmth, inspiration, and comfort to our residents. It is truly meaningful to foster deeper connection with our local community through the medium of art."

District Head Jung Myung-hee added, "I look forward to this art festival serving as an opportunity for residents to grow closer to the arts. We will continue to actively support our local artists' creative activities to further promote the rich cultural value of Buk-gu."

Buk-gu Culture & Arts Center: Accessibility and Barrier-Free Facilities

The venue for the festival, the Buk-gu Culture & Arts Center, is located at 50, Geumgok-daero 46beon-gil, Buk-gu, Busan (Deokcheon-dong). Opened on July 13, 2005, the Buk-gu Culture & Arts Center is part of the Busan Buk-gu Culture and Ice Center, featuring a 341-seat performance hall and two classrooms for liberal arts programs.

Visitors can reach the center via a 10-minute walk from Exit 10 of Deokcheon Station on Busan Metro Line 2. Alternatively, several city bus routes, including numbers 15, 59, 111, and 121, provide access via the Deokcheon Intersection or Culture and Ice Center bus stops.

The facility is fully equipped with barrier-free amenities for seniors and individuals with disabilities, including wheelchair rentals, step-free entrances, elevators, accessible restrooms, and dedicated seating. Furthermore, the Busan Buk-gu History and Culture Promotion Hall, which opened in January 2023, is located within the center, allowing visitors to explore local history, including chronicles of Buk-gu, cultural assets, the Gupo Manse Movement, Gupo Naru, and local culinary heritage.

In addition to the art festival, guests can enjoy various tourist attractions across Busan Buk-gu. Buk-gu offers a range of nature and history-themed destinations such as Hwamyeong Arboretum, Gupo Manse Street, and the Rose Garden, while nine sunset viewing spots—including the Geumbit Noeul Bridge in Hwamyeong Ecological Park—are popular highlights for visitors.
