K-water Launches Pop-up Store to Boost Tourism in Dam-Adjacent Regions

K-water (Korea Water Resources Corporation)'s Yeoncheon-Pocheon Regional Office is set to open a pop-up store, 'Bangul-i and the Hidden Gate of Travel,' at Hyundai Department Store Cheonho from August 20 to 23. The initiative aims to showcase the hidden charms of Yeoncheon, Pocheon, and Cheorwon — areas near the Hantangang Dam and Gunnam Dam — offering visitors unique travel opportunities.
Introducing the 'Bangul-i and the Hidden Gate of Travel' Pop-up Store
The K-water Yeoncheon-Pocheon Regional Office will host the 'Bangul-i and the Hidden Gate of Travel' pop-up store for four days in front of the B2 entrance of Hyundai Department Store's Cheonho branch in Seoul. This interactive pop-up features K-water's official mascot, 'Bangul-i,' and invites visitors to explore diverse travel content from the Yeoncheon, Pocheon, and Cheorwon regions.
Attendees can experience regional tourism resources firsthand at the pop-up and even apply to participate in the 'Dam It Tour,' a travel program developed from winning entries of last year's public travel planning competition. This offers a direct opportunity to visit and experience the areas surrounding the dams.
Fostering Regional Partnership with the 'Dam It Project'
This pop-up store is part of the 'Dam It Project,' an initiative by K-water's Yeoncheon-Pocheon Regional Office. The 'Dam It Project' aims to 'connect dams with people,' promoting the outstanding tourism resources of Yeoncheon, Pocheon, and Cheorwon—regions surrounding the Hantangang Dam and Gunnam Dam—as a regional co-prosperity endeavor.
The project's goal is to stimulate the economy in dam-adjacent areas and create a positive impact for both local residents and tourists. More detailed information about the event and the project can be found on the official website.
Anticipating Boosts to Local Tourism and Economy
Baek Jang-yeol, Head of K-water's Yeoncheon-Pocheon Regional Office, expressed his hope that the pop-up store will widely publicize the hidden attractions of Yeoncheon, Pocheon, and Cheorwon, serving as a significant catalyst for boosting local tourism and the economy. He added that K-water plans to continue developing diverse content that connects dams, regions, and people, thereby injecting new vitality into dam-vicinity areas.
Lee Jae-seon, CEO of Country Citizen, the company planning and operating the pop-up store, also stated their commitment to leveraging this event to unlock the region's potential and enable more people to experience its beauty.
